A week in the Sharpe household

March 5th, 2010

This week has been totally hectic, but then what’s new :-) Eddie (my Son’s dog) a Parson Jack Russell came to stay last Friday, followed by Archie (Luke’s mother’s dog)  a cross Yorkie/Jack Russell, and tiny on Monday, add these to the pack and there were 10 dogs staying. Add Lenny my daughter’s Cocker Spaniel to the mix and you can see there was plenty going on. Any trouble with this lot not a bit of it.   It was just wonderful to see them all romping around the field off the lead having a ball. Back at home all fed they just chilled on their beds and peace reigned.

A trip to the Docs for me  Wed with my foot, which to say the least has been rather painful. I have been referred to a Specialist as it is something to do with my meto (sounds like meto tonsil)  something or other and my age, my doctor knows how to make a girl feel good. Suggests I wear trainers all the time until I am seen. Somehow my suit for work and trainers don’t really work.

A trip to the Vets Thursday for Alfie to get his bits off (see his page).

In the middle of the week we had a blocked drain so got in Dyno Rod (don’t get me started on that one!!! bloody rip off) and he succeeded in flooding the garden with absolute crap, which smelt terrible. He made a half hearted attempt to clean up and left. The dogs didn’t think it was bad at all so all 10 dogs ended up covered in this stuff,  which took ages to  sort them out and Luke bless him cleaned up the yard.

My car then started to play up so the trip to the hydrotherapy pool had to be cancelled :-(  sorry Rod & Ann.

Hopefully next week will be less hectic somehow I don’t think so, but then wouldn’t life be boring.  ;-)

Hurrah :-) it looks like we will be ok tomorrow for the classes except of course  for Fun Agility, which as you know will re-commence next month.

CLASSES SATURDAY 27TH FEBRUARY

February 26th, 2010

Sorry Folks it looks like we will have to cancel the classes tomorrow.:-(

The heavy rain today, and at 4.30 it is still at it,  has not helped at all with the conditions at the field. It is too slippery underfoot, and I am sure no one wants their dog going back after training  covered in mud. Looking at the long range forecast it looks like it will be on the turn next week. So fingers crossed we will be ok for the classes.  It is so frustrating this weather.

Will post here for next Saturday.

World Cup Agility – MEG

February 24th, 2010

Our little girl Meg has been selected for the World Cup Agility Squad. She won’t be representing the UK but Australia !!!! The Australians have had trouble with quarantine regulations and can’t bring their own dogs over to the UK, so are having to borrow dogs to run. Bob was approached and he sent all the details of Meg along with a video, at this stage it was not home & dry as to who would be selected, and we were delighted when we heard on Sunday that she was in the team.

Meg is such a special little dog, and the beauty of Meg is that she has been handled by quite a few people and it dosen’t phase her. That’s all down to Bob’s hard work training her.  I am sure she will do us proud.

ALFIE – 5 yrs old

February 19th, 2010

Just over a week ago I was asked to re-home a, wait for it, Petit Bassett Griffen Verdeen or a PBGV no I am afraid I had never heard of one either. Well this little chap lived in a house with a a 12 year old Giant Schnauzer and they just didn’t get on. The couple who owned the dogs split up and the wife left the marital home. Alfie was her dog but as she was moving into a rented house couldn’t take him with her. Her husband struggled with both dogs and decided to re-home Alfie to a family with an autistic child in January. The thinking was the boy with autisim would benefit from a dog, well this turned out to be a disaster and Alfie was shipped back to his original home. I picked him up a week last Monday, and what a sweetheart he is, another Amber with a cracking temperament. He merged into our pack like he has been here forever and has such a personality. So he is going to stay within the family and Luke my Grandson is his new owner.  Luke had him Vet checked yesterday, and apart from an ear infection he is fine. To see him running with our lot in the field is just fab, as he was never walked very much, certainly never let off the lead and yes we have even had him over a jump.

Will keep you posted about this little character. :-)
