Bob & Blaze – VEGAS FINAL

August 29th, 2010

A huge well done to Bob & Blaze who came 2nd in the Vegas final yesterday. They qualified at Otley for the final earlier this year. Blaze has not been the easiest dog to train, but Bob’s hard work is at last paying off. :-)

URGENT URGENT Training tonight 18th August 10

August 18th, 2010

Sorry but I am having to cancel training tonight. I had treatment on my foot today thought I would have been ok but been told to rest it 24 hours.  My daughter is giving me a lift up tonight just to let people know but will open the exercise field so dogs can have a run anyway. Apologies for the short notice :-(

Dog Exercise – It’s playtime

August 2nd, 2010

People have very busy lives and find time just isn’t on their side. Walking the dog becomes a quick trot around the block, or  the dog only gets exercised at the week-end.  Owners  feel guilty that the dog is being left for long periods without exercise, dogs  may get over-weight, bored.

The services of a dog walker is one solution, but some people have discovered that this service may be just  a walk on the lead without the blast off the lead which dogs love. So we feel we have the solution for these very busy people, or people who are sick and unable to exercise the dog or occasions when commitments dictate that the dog dosen’t get walked at all just let out into the garden to toilet.

We have therefore run a trial with several dogs where we collect the dog/s take it/them to our field give it/them a good run and return it/them home suitably tired out. In many cases the dog/s runs with other suitably matched dogs and they have a real doggie play-time.  The feed-back is nothing short of positive, and we feel this is the way forward.

This service will be in addition to the one already in existence where owners bring along the dogs themselves for an hour’s exercise which is booked in advance.

If you are interested or if you know anyone who you feel this would be the solution to their dog exercise problems then please ask for further details via e.mail pauline.fieldofdreams@googlemail.com or mobile 07831 358966

Display at Hibalstow Gala

July 1st, 2010

It was the hottest day of the year so far, Sunday27th June and the families were out in force.  It had a lovely family atmosphere with lots of stalls, bouncy castle and a very welcome ice-cream van.  John, Sarah, Emma & Bob did a Jumping followed by an Agility Course to a very responsive crowd, whilst I took over the commentary. We took along Moss, Flynn, Blaze, Ruby, Jazz,  Bob (that is a dog) and  Meg, and they did us proud. In view of the heat we were glad that the dogs only had to do less than half an hour.  The people dispersed very quickly after we finished, could it be that a certain match was to get underway at 3pm :-).  Everyone just loved it and as a result we have had a lot of enquiries.

Thanks  Nana Meg (that’s Emma’s Nan) for handing out leaflets and cards.

We have been asked to do another one in September which we have agreed to do.

Results

June 21st, 2010

I quite understand that everyone is wrapped up in the busy season of competing, and whilst results are posted on Facebook they are still not coming through to me :-(   Some of course I do know about.

So to save the frustration of chasing people, people feeling offended when their results don’t appear here,  I have decided that at the end of the Summer Season (ie last outdoor show),  I will be asking people for all their results from the start of the Season (ie first outdoor show) so I can collate them for announcements at the Christmas Do.  As we are not a Club points aren’t relevant but recognition of people and what they have achieved with their dogs is. So keep keep a note of your achievements ( I am sure you do anyway).

Roger & Jingo

June 21st, 2010

Congratulations to Roger & Jingo for not only 1 win this weekend at Newton Heath but 2, taking them to Grade 6.  Another great pair to watch out for. A pairing that also started back with good foundation work in puppyhood and it shows just what can be achieved if you put in the effort and commitment. :-) )

Julie & Oz

June 21st, 2010

Huge well done to Julie & Oz for getting through to the Olympia qualifiers with a win Newton Heath this week-end. This pair are ones to watch as I predict a really bright future for them.

Julie’s commitment to Oz’s training started when he was just a puppy with Crate Games, she took on board every bit of advice in training with Bob and the results are now paying off.  :-)

I also have to say that Julie has been running Mossy for me whilst I am hobbling about and she is also getting results with him.

You Must See This

June 21st, 2010

Well as Chris Evans said Some people say dog handling isn’t a sport. Those people haven’t tried it because it is HARD (and very sporty). So log into http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/chris-evans/videos/dog-han and watch this very funny video.

I have been saying for a long time that dog agility dosen’t get the recognition it deserves. It should be a sport the same as show jumping.
